Vote Alert: Vote “YES” on the PROVE IT Act and the YIMBY Act

NTU urges all Representatives to vote “YES” on H.R. 7198, the Prove It Act of 2024, and “YES” on H.R. 3507, the Yes In My Backyard Act.

The Prove It Act would target excessive regulation affecting small businesses and combat executive overreach. It would require proposed rules subject to regulatory flexibility analysis to account for potential indirect costs that such rules could impose on small businesses. In cases where a proposed rule has been determined to not have a significant economic impact on small entities, the Prove It Act would create a process for small businesses to request a review of that determination.

The Yes In My Backyard Act would require Community Development Block Grant recipients to track and reduce land use policies that discourage the construction of affordable housing, thereby encouraging localities to implement policies that would increase the availability of housing. A previous version of this legislation was included in our 2023 “No Brainers” list of sensible, bipartisan bills that ought to be passed immediately.

Roll call votes on H.R. 7190 and H.R. 350 will be included in NTU’s annual Rating of Congress, and “YES” votes will be considered the pro-taxpayer position.
