National Taxpayers Union Federal Affairs Manager, Nan Swift said, "Multiple attempts to repeal Obamacare have fallen short and it seems like there is little agreement on how to move forward to address some of the health care law’s biggest flaws. The one big exception is the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle recognize the enormous threat this poorly designed cost-savings mechanism poses to Medicare consumers and taxpayers.
Congress should take advantage of this rare bipartisan agreement and move IPAB repeal forward quickly by attaching this common sense provision to the Children’s Health Insurance Program extension (CHIP), thereby avoiding the growing pitfalls of a packed legislative calendar. After multiple attempts to repeal Obamacare have failed, Congress can score an easy win by getting rid of one of the law’s worst provisions and taxpayers can finally get a downpayment on so-far empty repeal promises."
